Windows 2000 SP4 Installation Notes
If you have installed Windows 2000 SP4, you might get the following error in the Application event log:
No datasource has been defined for Microsoft Exchange Server ''.
Please run AgendaXCfg.exe to configure this server. Mailbox will be skipped.
Note that the Exchange Server name and the Mailbox name are missing. SP4 seems to modify anonymous access to the Exchange address book, therefore, if you have configured Agenda/X with the 'Logon anonymously' option during Setup, the Agenda/X Update Service may fail to log on to the addressbook and the error above is then displayed in the Application Event Log. There is a workaround for this problem, please follow the below steps:
Stop the Agenda/X Update Service |
Launch the Agenda/X Setup program |
Leave all settings as they are |
When the Setup wizard asks you to specify a Logon Mailbox (step 'Specify Logon Mailbox'), turn off 'Logon anonymously', select your Exchange Server and a logon mailbox. This mailbox doesn't need any special permissions, you can select any. We recommend to select a mailbox that will not be deleted in the future, for example 'Administrator'. This mailbox is only used to read the Exchange addressbook.
Follow the wizard to complete the Setup program. When asked to overwrite files, please select 'No to all' if you have installed Agenda/X SPs or manually modified any of the Agenda/X script files. |
If the Setup program asks you to reboot, select No. You do not have to reboot the server. |
After completing the Setup program, please run the Registry Editor, regedit.exe, go to HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Exchange\Exchange Provider, right-click Exchange Provider, point to New, and then click String Value; type "ds server" (without the quotation marks), and then press ENTER; right-click ds server, and then click Modify; in Value data, type the NETBIOS name of the global catalog server. |
Then, start the Agenda/X Configuration (AgendaXCfg.exe) and verify the values displayed there. All values should be unmodified. |
Click on 'Update', the Agenda/X Update Service will be started. |
Open the Application Event Log to verify that the Agenda/X Update Service is scanning the mailboxes again normally and without errors. If you see Event-Logs about Permission problems, please verify the permissions of the account that you use to start the Agenda/X Update Service. This account should have 'Receive As' permissions on the mailbox store. |
We hope that these steps help you to make Agenda/X work with Windows 2000 SP4. Please let us know if you need any further assistance.
